CASINO WILLI-WHIRLERS SQUARE DANCE CLUB

This Club was started in May 1983 in Casino NSW by Wilma Flannery when she was learning to call and she is still the Club Caller today after 32 years. Starting out with just a handful of dancers, including some young teens, the Club struggled to survive during the first twelve months. However, Wilma persevered, gained more experience as a caller, gained more dancers and the club began to grow till they were dancing between 3-4 squares each week. Visiting other clubs to dance with other dancers was very much encouraged by Wilma and many long friendships were formed during these early years, especially with the Glen Innes Club. Wilma and her dancers have never missed a Glen Squares birthday party since they started going there in 1984. The motto of Square Dancing is ”Fun and Friendship set to Music” and the members of the Casino Club really endorse this. The Casino Willi-Whirlers dancers always make everybody feel very welcome, whether you are someone just coming along to see what square dancing is all about or a visiting dancer or caller from another club. Although numbers of members have dwindled over the past 3-4 years, they are still enjoying dancing each Wednesday night with lots of fun and plenty of laughter. One of Wilma’s original dancers is still dancing with the Club today.
